We’re fortunate to be surrounded by many wonderful artisan food producers and growers. Hopefully you’ll visit some and enjoy tasting a little of what Hawke’s Bay has to offer during your stay. Here are a few of our favourites:
Set in the beautiful Waikoko Gardens at the Hawke’s Bay Show Grounds, the weekly farmers’ market offers locals and visitors a wide range of locally grown fresh produce - vegetables, berries and fruit; locally raised meats; artisan jams and preserves, freshly baked breads and pastries; gelato and more.
Stroll in the gardens and enjoy live music and entertainment while discovering delicious gourmet offerings.

There’s nowhere better to be on a Saturday morning in summertime than the Growers’ Market at Black Barn Vineyards.
As well as all the seasonal local produce, the market delights with fresh baked breads, locally roasted coffee, flowers, meat, pickles, olive oil, lavender products and more.

Telegraph Hill is one of New Zealand’s best known olive oil brands, and visitors are welcome at the Olivery Shop, where you’ll find their wide range of beautiful olives and extra virgin olive oil, as well as over 60 different delectable food products including sauces, condiments, vinaigrettes and antipasto treats.

New Zealand’s favourite honey, Arataki, is made right here in Hawke’s Bay. You can visit the Arataki Visitor Centre in Havelock North to taste and purchase honey, meet the bees and learn about the honey-making process.

Hohepa Cheeses are enjoyed around New Zealand but come from this boutique local cheesery on the Hohepa bio-dynamic farm. The farm milks approximately 40 cows and it is the special care of the land to which the cheese-maker attributes the wonderful taste in the cheeses. Products include Danbo, Quark, Feta, Mozzerella and yoghurts.
Visitors can taste and purchase the delicious Hohepa cheeses at the on-site shop just outside Clive.
The St Andrews Limes team take full advantage of the fabulous Hawke’s Bay growing conditions to produce bountiful crops of fresh limes. The limes are used to make a range of popular products, from lime juice to salad dressings and lime curd to pickles and marmalade.

Sunday Morning: Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Market, Hastings
The Te Mata Mushroom Company was established in 1967 and is still growing the best mushrooms around. Their main varieties are White Cups, White Buttons, Portobellos and White Flats.
You can buy the farm-fresh mushrooms from the Havelock North farm shop, or the Sunday Farmers’ Market.

Based just at the edge of Havelock North village, Te Mata Figs offers a range of unique products alongside its delicious fresh figs (in season – March through May). The company was established by a local couple excited by the Mediterranean climate in Hawke’s Bay, and what that could mean for a wide array of fig varieties.
Visitors are welcome at The Figgery from Monday to Saturday, and Te Mata Figs also have a stall at the Sunday Farmers’ Market.

Famous in Hawke’s Bay and beyond, Hawthorne is the country’s most awarded coffee roaster. An artisan producer of Arabica coffee blends, supplying to cafes, restaurants and the general public, Hawthorne in Havelock North is also a great place to stop for a coffee and a snack. It’s also the idea spot for anyone coffee-mad to pick up high-quality equipment, and to hear and smell the coffee roasting.
We love Hawthorne so much we serve it here at Greenhill.
